THE RICE TERRACES
During early school days, we were able to travel around the
world through the books illustrations. I was particularly awed and amazed. With that came a big wish of visiting the so
called 7 Wonders of the World which includes Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal of
India and Banaue Rice Terraces of the Philippines among others.
Recently the votation of the 7 New Wonders of the World had
been finalized and yet the memory of the old classic Natural wonders of the
world didn’t reduced a bit.
If given the chance, I would like to travel around the
world. In my list would definitely include the Banaue Rice Terraces. Rice
terraces, such a real panorama which gives the body, mind and soul a relaxation
away from the hustle and bustle of life. The steps were carefully carved and
designed to bring people abundant rice supply. In reviews, it’s a mountain side
approximately 8-10 hours drive away from Manila.
Just a mere image previews really wowed me, how about seeing
it in actual? No matter how far and tiring it would be, the end result I know
will be worth it all.
Still now I wonder, if no one will cultivate the rice
terraces, it will become barren, futile and useless, it will not even be an
attraction, it will simply be an ordinary thing. But with skillful hand and
heart-hardworking people who pour their heart to farm in these terraces, the
greenery and eye-catching panoramic view will yield abundant rice supply as
needed.
In our lives, just as the terraces needed to be cultivated
and nurtured and so thus our plans and steps must be set at the maximum to give
us the optimum outcome. Laid-out plans and steps, without action, will be
similar to an abandoned rice terraces.
Therefore, as the terraces reflects to be steps towards the
sky, let us make our own life’s steps and plans to reach our stars!
